The International Police Association - is one of the largest international non-governmental organizations , which brings together all police officers from various countries of the world, working and retired .

Initiated the appearance of this association was the British police sergeant Arthur Troup . After the end of the Second World War , Arthur had a conversation with colleagues from Norway, Sweden, Denmark , Finland and some of the countries located in Africa. The purpose of this correspondence was to exchange experiences.

January 1, 1950 in the UK has officially announced the establishment of the British branch of the International Police Association . This day and read the official date of establishment of the association . Only 6 June 1997 officially joined the International Association Section of Ukraine. On this day, in Canada, in Quebec passed the Fifteenth World Congress of the association.

To date , the organization is considered the biggest in which the amount collected is not only the police but also the civilians in the police forces . The structure of this association has more than three hundred thousand members living in sixty-four countries. And this organization is the only professional association of police officers, no matter in what kind of position is one or the other member of the organization, where he carries his service , what language communicates. Also no trade union and political authorities can not influence what happens in the organization. It is completely independent from the other groups and associations, but it is completely open to the police of other states.

One of the activities of the association is to study the history of police affairs , as well as the changes that occur in its structure. The association takes care of everything that can serve as prevention and reduction of crime , investigating these dynamics in different countries.
